Xavier and Cody from College Hunks Hauling Junk were absolutely wonderful!! They were polite and friendly but also very professional! We called College Hunks because we needed furniture moved between floors. Since we are getting older, moving heavy furniture is getting tougher for us to move, so we knew it would cost to move but it was still less then buying a new piece of furniture! This really worked out well for us!!

The crew was efficient, courteous, organized, and clearly very experienced.They arrived on time with all the proper equipment, worked quickly and carefully, and communicated well throughout the entire move. Everything was handled with care, and the process felt smooth and stress-free.I didn’t get the individual movers’ names, but the entire crew deserves recognition for their professionalism and teamwork. I would absolutely recommend this company and would use them again without hesitation.
If you need a mover you can trust...it is NOT College Hunks Hauling Junk.We had a terrible experience today from the Des Moines IA franchise. We reserved a 440SF truck to haul off items from our office during a move for $549. On the "recorded" phone call, the person who scheduled the appointment talked about how their crew is great at stacking various items to maximize space and save money. The rate may only be as low as $339 if they could get it down to half a truck. But it was clearly stated that if they filled the truck, it would be as much as $549 (which we were 100% okay with). This morning, the day of our move (we also hired them to do move the rest of our office) they show up in this huge truck saying that this was such a big job that they needed the bigger truck and this truck runs a minimum of $1300. The "bigger" truck was barely 25% full yet we were charged more than double our original quote. These jokers just threw everything in there and it still barely filled up 25%. Huge Fail CHHJ! You should be ashamed of yourselves.
The movers were polite and hardworking, but the company’s quoting and estimating process was completely unacceptable. Our estimate was off by several hours on both packing and moving, even though nothing about the job changed. My husband and I rented a trailer and moved three full loads ourselves to try to save time and money, yet the final bill still matched the original estimate when it should have been significantly lower.After the movers left, we discovered three cabinets had been left unpacked, and we were still left with three truckloads of items to move on our own. The rushed pace at the end left our garage a disorganized mess, with many boxes unlabeled.While the workers themselves were great, the company’s lack of accuracy, accountability, and transparency made this a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not choose College Hunks again or recommend them to others.Edited to Add: we were able to get a partial (25% total) refund for the packing that was done and the disorganized move, days later we still find boxes from other areas of our home that are an absolute mess. Here is today’s fun bathroom find! In the name of transparency the company did offer to send workers to our home to help reorganize the boxes placed in the garage, however, with this level of trust being broken in the initial move, we did decline that option.
