After comparing multiple interstate movers, United Van Lines/Armstrong were the best priced. From the initial questionnaire consultant (Jermaine) to working with a moving coordinator (Terri) to working with the driver, Thomas, all processes couldn’t have been easier. Terri and Jermaine made sure we were set up for a successful move and Thomas and his crews in both states were just incredible movers. They took great care to protect our belongings and were lightning fast! I mean, fast fast!!! Thank you all, and a big shout-out to Thomas, driver/mover extraordinaire! Be safe, my man! Thanks again!!
Armstrong moved a household from Meridian to Flowood. They estimated $5000. Of the move turned out to be more they’d bill the extra. Likewise, if it turned out to be less, they’d refund any overpayment.About two weeks after the move, a refund of $1000 was mailed back.Hard workers. Great integrity.
We recently moved from Madison, MS to another state, and chose Armstrong/United as our movers. This was not a corporate relocation, this was a family who saved our money for a big move, and paid for it ourselves. This was not our first move, but our 9th major move (former Navy family), and by far, the worst in terms of experience and damage. I would have rated you "one star," but your saving grace was Miss Linda, who packed our things with such care, she deserved 5 stars on her own. But there were two other guys who packed us also, and didn't take as much care as she did. After being assured everything would be packed and handled with care, on loading day, I watched ALL of our boxes be slid down the stairs on a slide made of cardboard. Then the slide came apart, and some boxes caught the steps. Those boxes and bins tumbled and busted, with contents inside being thrown everywhere. I'm the one who found pieces across the floor, and once I showed it to the crew, they stopped. We were also told by Armstrong some of our items had to be packed by a "third party." None of those items were packed correctly. Upon delivery, everything had been done wrong, including a grandfather clock that now doesn't work. Speaking of delivery, instead of coming directly here after loading, we had to wait 5 days before the truck showed up, even if it was just a one day's drive away. And THEN, we had multiple broken items. Plastic bins completely shattered. A lawn mower that doesn't even work anymore. Things both packed in boxes, and items just sitting on the truck (like shelves) that came off the truck in pieces. A TV that was "boxed" (which I use the term loosely - someone put paper on it, and taped a box around it) no longer works due to a white bar down the screen that won't go away. Yes, we filed a claim. Here is a direct quote on why they won't pay for the TV: "*Mechanical malfunction: Electronic devices sometimes do not work properly after transport, and there is no exterior damage or other evidence to indicate improper handling by the carrier. The assigned electronics firm could not verify the mechanical malfunction as transit related, and United is unable to accept liability for the TV." Are you kidding me? We would have been better off selling everything and starting over. Either move yourself entirely or find another company. Armstrong just doesn't care.
These guys were fantastic and hilarious! Very understanding given our situation with moving. Extremely professional and great people. They did great on representing the Company as a whole. If I had to use them again, I would in a heartbeat!!
I would give 0 stars if it were an option. The walk through with Philip went fine. He recommended 4 guys since our house was almost 3,000 square feet. I paid up front $1,543.00 for 4 guys ($200 an hour) for 7 hours plus $108.00 for mattress boxes and $35.00 fuel charge for a local move that was less than 10 miles. The guys showed up with 2 tiny box trucks. I immediately asked if everything would fit. I was told that our crew and 18 wheeler with our boxes, blankets, and dollies were dispatched to a different location. These guys started wrapping furniture and ran out of blankets, had no mattress boxes, and did not have the dolly they needed to load a gun safe. I told them to make sure to leave room for the refrigerator, washer, dryer, and gun safe because I knew half our stuff would not fit. They quickly filled up the 2 trucks except for just enough room to fit the frig, washer, dryer, and safe, but did not have any more blankets to wrap them or the right dolly to load them. They wanted to take what was loaded to the other house and unload and drive back and forth moving the rest of the stuff. I told them no, I am not paying $200.00 an hour for them to drive back and forth because they did not bring what they needed. They took a break every hour, sat there waiting for someone to bring them blankets and a jack dolly, and stopped at a gas station on the way to the other house. I was done with them after that. They were there a total of 4 hours and did nothing for more than 1 of the hours. I was refunded for 3 hours because they have a 4 hour minimum. I am supposed to be getting a refund for the mattress boxes. I paid $835.00 for 3 hours of work and for half of our stuff to be moved 9 miles.
