I have an upcoming move from Utah to San Diego and have been doing my due diligence by getting quotes from several moving companies. I already received estimates from a few companies that specialize in interstate moves, but I also wanted to get a quote from a local San Diego company.San Diego Moving Company had decent reviews, so I submitted a request for a quote through their website. The next day, I received a phone call from Darren. We had a good conversation about the services I was looking for, and he seemed enthusiastic about helping. During the call, he mentioned he could prepare a quote and asked if I could take photos of the items I planned to move and text or email them to him. This felt a bit unusual since other companies conducted virtual walkthroughs, but I agreed. He said he would send his contact information shortly after our call; however, nothing came through.After two days, I followed up and he confirmed his contact information. I then took photos of my items and sent them over. He acknowledged receipt and said he would get back to me.I did not hear back until four days later, when I received an emailed quote that was nearly double the price of the other estimates I had received. Shortly afterward, he texted asking me to call him to discuss the quote. When I called, it went to voicemail. I texted back asking when he would be available, and he replied that he was out of town and would call me back in a few hours. Unfortunately, I never received a follow-up call that day.Overall, I experienced a lack of communication and responsiveness throughout the process. I was hoping to support a local company and expected a more attentive experience, especially compared to the larger interstate movers I contacted.
